Olivier Minvielle, designer and crafter of fine jewelry featuring the Tahitian black pearl, and his lovely wife, Jennifer, are pleased to present their collection. A husband and wife team, they have named their collaborative effort Mahana Pearl, meaning “Sun” in Tahitian.
A Frenchman who lived in Tahiti for many years, Olivier has experienced every aspect of the black pearl, from harvesting the oyster to devising ways to employ the oyster’s exquisite “Mother of Pearl” inner shell into his signature pearl creations. Jennifer, an American and Olivier’s favorite model, chooses all the colors and determines the sizing and order of each pearl in their signature multicolor necklaces.
Each piece of jewelry created by Mahana Pearl is one of a kind. There is no other like it. Just as each pearl is a unique entity, so is each of their designs. Beginning in their imagination, the individual necklace is then formed by their hands into a singular expression of beauty and homage to the black pearl.
Jennifer and Olivier have favored the drama and boldness of mixing the many colors of the Tahitian pearl within a single piece, hopefully exciting the observer to discover both its subtlety and range. The Mahana Pearl Collection is for powerful, sometimes mysterious women and for those who value the rarity and luxury of the exotic Tahitian black pearl.
The often forgotten beauty of the mother of pearl is incorporated into a number of their pieces. The mother of pearl reflects an impressive array of various colors of the Pacific Ocean.
*** All pearls used by Mahana Pearl have passed through a Tahitian government x-ray inspection process and have been certified Class A by the Department of Periculture of Tahiti. Their sizes range in diameter from 8 to 11 mm, and their shapes are round or semi-round.
*** Mahana Pearl uses 14 carat white or yellow gold exclusively.
